Our Philosophy
When I decided to venture in to breeding again, after 30 years away from it and many years of working in a high stress job,
my goal for this beautiful breed, was to perfect a standard so that one day we will see it as a legitimate Dogs West registered breed.
My breeding plan is to only combine dogs of excellent temperament - those who are social, loving, calm and non aggressive. My philosophy of raising pups is - if you remain calm, they will remain calm. Treat them like human babies. So ours are raised with lots of love, cuddles, enrichment and guidance.
We are members of Breeding Business, RPBA (Responsible Pet Breeders Association) breeder #12111 and PSAA (Puppy Scam Awareness Australia Breeders Directory) member #PSAA00147 and Rightpaw is currently being processed. We have always followed the guidelines of the WA Dog Act regarding the breeding and raising of our puppies, to ensure they are the happiest, healthiest & best puppies possible. We do DNA test all our breeding stock for breed varification as well as 300+ known genetic conditions.
Finally, a short word on DNA expectations - as with our own human children, there can be no complete guarantees as to size, colouring, temperament and health. No DNA or parental health tests can absolutely guarantee how every single pup will turn out - especially with cross breeds. All we can do is our best in choosing the most ideal combinations of parents. The rest is up to nature.

Our other aim is for the coat to be luxurious to the touch, easy care and of diverse colours. Oodles West is the first breeding program in WA to breed parti groodles. It has since become very popular. Personally, I am a huge fan of the parti colouring (definition: a parti is one with a white base coat of more than 50% and a secondary colour. That secondary coat colour may fall anywhere on the dog although should be symmetrical in the head, however, In saying that, not all our litters will be parti. I would like to introduce more variations of colour into the mix. The coat type will always vary with the combination of parents. Even with the tighter curl, I would like to see it become softer, more luxurious and more groom friendly.
When working out what we’d like as our ideal size, we lean more toward producing the mini to medium size range, but this does not discount the possibility of the odd medium to standard litter being planned - depending on demand and opportunity.

3 Days to 1 Week
Every day, each puppy is handled and tested for touch aversion - touching tummys, feet, tails, ears, face and nose. They are turned on their backs and held up, given a little nose boop and then a cuddle.
1 to 4 Weeks
As soon as the puppies open their eyes and ears and start exploring on wobbly little legs, we transform their whelping box into a larger play and sleeping area. This new space is filled with sensory toys—some that crinkle, others with textured surfaces perfect for teething, plus soft cuddly toys, musical toys and ones that roll when nudged. We also introduce a small water bowl so they can start learning to lap on their own.
This is the stage when toilet training begins. Puppies are gradually introduced to Advance Dog Biscuits, which are soaked and blended into a gentle paste to ease them into solid home-cooked food.
4 to 5 Weeks
By this stage, the pups are ready to discover the great outdoors in our purpose-built puppy day play zone. Here, they’re introduced to different weather sensations, have access to grass for toileting, and enjoy comfy beds for naps and snuggles. The area includes hanging toys for tug-of-war, small climbing equipment, ball pits, chew toys, water play during summer months, and plenty of space for romping around and building confidence. It is now that we introduce puppies to mini baths in the laundry basin. This is the time we introduce a trainer to teach the very basics of good manners and polite behaviour.
5 to 6 Weeks
Now full of energy and curiosity, the puppies graduate to the larger lawn area or our undercover patio area, depending on the weather. These spaces have more complex play equipment—larger climbing structures, tunnels, ramps, and balance beams. They also get their first interactions with the other dogs just beyond the fence, adding an exciting element of gentle animal socialisation.
6 to 8 Weeks
From six weeks onwards, we step up their sensory learning. Puppies begin exploring our garden. They learn to walk through open doorways and navigate a doggy door. Water play now includes time in the bathtub with bubbles, floating toys, and their siblings.
They learn routines like bedtime when they begin crate training. These small but meaningful milestones build confidence and help them adjust to life in their new homes.
Their day begins with familiar sounds—like the blender—and continues with other household noises: vacuum cleaners, washing machines, air fryers, music, television, and visits from our many helpers. Outside, they experience the hum of cars and garden tools like mowers and blowers as well as nature sounds such as birds, waves and wind.
Puppies are always close to their mum, uncle and aunties, who love to help teach them social cues and gentle play behaviour. We also welcome friends and family to come along, to ensure they are well-socialised with different people and handling styles. We also encourage disabled people to come in and handle the puppies. This helps with assessing their suitability for therapy dog work.
Ready to Meet You!
By the time our puppies are ready to join their new families, they’ve experienced a wide range of everyday sights, sounds, and sensations. This early exposure helps them settle quickly into new homes—they’re already familiar with the hustle and bustle of daily life. All that’s left is getting to know their new family and adjusting to a new environment and routine.
What to expect when you visit
We take the health of our puppies very seriously. When you come for a visit, please wear clean clothes and shoes. Please do not visit other dogs and pups before visiting our puppies. We want to make sure that we keep our babies as healthy as possible, and do everything that we can to protect them from communicable illnesses. You are welcome to visit the puppies any time after they turn three weeks of old.
We do not allow visits from other dogs under any circumstances. It is very stressful for both our mums and puppies and we want to make sure they stay as happy and comfortable as possible!
Please try to be here within 15 minutes of your scheduled time. We like to make sure that everyone gets enough time with their puppies; that is dependent on all of our visitors being on time. We limit our visits to 30 minutes.
Children are welcome to come, and we encourage you to bring your family, as long as supervision will be provided.
Thank you for choosing us, we truly appreciate each and every one of you!
